Over the years, we have continued to add more and more really great female rubber ducks to our line. And for the longest time, D has been asking me to add a particular style…one which has a really classic look. But how to we do it?? We might have an idea on what we would like to do, but translating it into an appealing rubber duck is not always so easy.
In our art form, we always have to deal with very intricate molding issues in production. If we put so much detail in the hair, it won’t pull out of the mold without ripping. Or if we make it too tall, it will not float upright. But……..D wanted a very particular looking duck…..in a Bob “Quacky” dress no less!
And the hair, being so high in this classic pose, was going to be a real nightmare to produce. So back and forth we go with the artist and the factory to find a way to make this work….and finally….after years of noodling and months of work….we finally have what we call…”If I could turn Quack time”. So as you can see, the “beak really does go on” here. This is just a rough pic from our 3-D modeling scans so you can’t really see the detail or the finished look. But in the end, it will be a show stopper. Glam never looked so good!
